The full-time Policy Associate supports the dissemination of Institute for Veteran Policy cultural competence curricula and promotes veteran interests in employment, public health and access to services through local and state entities.

Essential duties include but may not be limited to:

Working with IVP director and staff / Combat to Community coordination
¬ Identify and coordinate existing opportunities for delivery of Combat to Community curriculum to HR, police, behavioral health, educators and other professionals.
¬ Promote curriculum and develop new opportunities for dissemination.
¬ Coordinate delivery medium, logistics and content customization (where appropriate).
¬ Research and pursue opportunities to deliver accredited professional continuing education curriculum.
¬ Research opportunities to present C2C and other materials at professional conferences.
¬ Coordinate and write abstracts and proposals for presentations.
¬ Provide support to moderate and run live streaming webinars.
¬ Deliver Combat to Community through in-person, and web-based media.

Policy advocacy and community relations
¬ Enhance existing relationships and establish new partnerships to enhance workforce development and training opportunities.
¬ Research and promote new programs and partnerships for veteran employment and well-being.
¬ Work closely with our partner organizations to influence policy and ensure that the systems of care are adequate, accessible and truly meet the needs of veterans.

Requirements:
¬ Undergraduate degree required.
¬ Graduate degree in Public Health, Behavioral Health, Political Science, or related field desirable.
¬ Specific experience in public interest research, advocacy, communications, community organizing, and/or outreach are highly desirable.
¬ Veteran status and/or knowledge of veteran issues and resources extremely desirable.
¬ Public speaking ability highly desirable.
¬ General knowledge of legislative processes and the structure of government.
¬ Strong computer skills and literacy, including Internet tools, database management and MS Office.
¬ Must be able to perform all functions of the position within what would be consider reasonable accommodation.
¬ Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Cultural Humility Initiative.
